Ecology: very common, usually in heavilydisturbed vegetation like scrub or abandoned shifting cultivation areas, often along roads, or along streams; on clay loam, sandy, and sandstone soils, up to 2100 m elevation ( Slik et al. 2000).

Distribution: India (including Andaman and Nicobar Islands), China, Taiwan, Japan (Ryukyu Islands), Myanmar, Thailand, Malay Peninsula, Sumatra (incl. Anambas Islands), Christmas Island, Java, Borneo, Philippines, Sulawesi, Lesser Sunda Islands ( Bali, Timor, West Sumbawa, Sumba, Wetar), Moluccas, New Guinea, Australia, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Kiribati ( Slik et al. 2000).
