Report as epibiont on oligochaetes: Found on freshwater worms from the USA ( Kellicott 1884; Schödel 2018).
Remarks: Kahl (1935) suspected the identification of this species as S. constricta due to ‘ a small difference’. Kellicott (1884) commented, “The worms from which the infusorians were taken were common among the roots of aquatic plants in a swamp … anterior part was often completely clothed by the clustered zooids.”.
