Diagnosis:— Dolichandra hispida can be easily recognized by the purple ovary ( vs. green in other Dolichandra species) and by the calyx with curved apices ( vs. calyx without curved apices in D. quadrivalvis ).

Reproductive Period:— Flowering from August to October, no fruiting data.

Distribution and Habitat:— It occurs in Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay ( Fonseca et al. 2017). Within the study area, it was registered in Céu Azul, Capanema , in the PARNA Iguazú , on the Cachoeira do Rio Azul trail, and on the Iguaçu riverbanks.
