Type material examined. Holotype PORTUGAL: ♂, Fonte de Aldeia (Parque Natural do Douro Internacional), Miranda do Douro, 8.VIII.2001, P. Cardoso leg., MNHN-AR 14331 .
Diagnosis: Zodarion lusitanicum can be distinguished from other members within the styliferum group by the tibial apophysis, with a recurved tip in the ventral view ( Fig. 34N View FIGURE 34 ), and a sub-trapezoidal epigynal plate, widened toward the posterior part ( Fig. 38G View FIGURE 38 ).
Description: For a detailed description of the habitus and male palp, see Pekár et al. (2003). Epigyne ( Fig. 38G View FIGURE 38 ): Epigynal plate sub-trapezoidal, anteriorly limited by a pair of touching margins, laterally well defined by chitinous edges, gradually widened toward the posterior part. Copulatory openings and pits not well defined.
Comment: Based on the morphology of the male and female copulatory organs, this species was classified by Pekár et al. (2011) in the elegans species group. However, males have a significantly elongated tibial apophysis ( Fig. 34O View FIGURE 34 ), a reverse, U-shaped median apophysis ( Fig. 34N View FIGURE 34 and fig. 16 in Pekár et al. 2011), and a single-flue harpoon-shaped subterminal tooth of embolus ( Fig. 34N View FIGURE 34 ), and females have a broad and sub-rectangular epigynal plate ( Fig. 38G View FIGURE 38 ), and S-shaped chitinous edges of the epigynal plate ( Fig. 38G View FIGURE 38 ). Since these features resemble those of Z. bosmansi (cf. Figs 34I, 34H View FIGURE 34 , 38D View FIGURE 38 , respectively), we hereby transfer Z. lusitanicum to the styliferum group.
