Diagnosis: Zodarion rudyi can be easily distinguished from other species in the styliferum group by the presence of a medio-dorsal lobe on the tibial apophysis ( Fig. 35O View FIGURE 35 ), and by its large, diverging epigynal wings ( Fig. 41G View FIGURE 41 ).

Description: For a detailed description of the habitus and male palp, see Bosmans (1994). Epigyne ( Fig. 41G View FIGURE 41 ): Epigynal plate bell-shaped, anteriorly rounded, running sub-parallel. Epigynal plate posteriorly diverging, accompanied by a pair of large, trapezoid wings. Copulatory opening(s) and pit(s) not visible, but they might potentially be located near the wings.

Molecular data:

COI mitochondrial barcodes (Genbank accession): MT370191, MT370192 , PP373377, PP373378.

Maximum intraspecific COI divergence (n=4): 0.9 %. Minimum interspecific divergence (to Z. styliferum ): 5.0%. Consensus COI distance to the closest species (to Z. styliferum ): 0.7%.

Distribution: Portugal, Spain.
