Distribution. Congo, Gabon *, Uganda ( Fig. 1A View FIGURE 1 ).

Notes. Richards (1982) described this species based on three females from Uganda ( holotype) and Congo, and a male from Liberia. Comparing Richards' description of the male with the available specimens and considering the distribution, it is evident that the male from Liberia is in fact Belonogaster velutina sp. nov., described below. The two species appear to be vicariants, with Belonogaster levior in Central Africa and B. velutina sp. nov. in West Africa.
