Elephantomyia ( Elephantomyia) juquiensis Alexander (1945) View in CoL : 27­29 (male hypopygium).

Material examined: Holotype, male. Pinned specimen, with flattened terminalia mounted in a plastic slide pinned with the specimen. Brazil, São Paulo, Juquiá. 400m. November 1940. Travassos. MZUSP.

Color. As described by Alexander (1945). Head ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 ­ 3 ). Rostrum length, 5.50 mm; antennae missing in the holotype; maxilary palpus length, 0.14 mm; head capsule length / width, 0.60 / 0.60 mm. Thorax ( Fig.2 View FIGURES 1 ­ 3 ). Thorax length / height 1.40 / 1.68 mm; a small and inconspicuous protuberance in the anteroventral corner of laterotergite present; tibial spurs lacking. Wing ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1 ­ 3 ). Wing length / width, 6.50 / 1.60 mm; cross­vein sc­r reaching R1 before mid point between origin of RS and tip of R1; discal cell ca. 1.6 times longer than wide; A1 ca. 2 times longer than A2. Abdomen. Abdomen length, 4.0 mm. Male terminalia ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ). Gonocoxite length / maximun width, 0.71/ 0.34 mm; gonocoxite conical, with longest hairs at apical and basal­medial borders; gonostylus slightly subterminal; inner gonostylus length, 0.24 mm; inner gonostylus almost straight; outer gonostylus length, 0.21 mm; outer gonostylus curved; interbase broad based, hook­like, narrowing abruptly near base; aedeagus very long and narrow.
