Distribution. This species was described from Germany and recorded from Saudi Arabia by Spencer (1973a), where it was attacking wheat. It was further recorded from the Palaearctic Region: Bulgaria, Corfu, Greece (Crete), Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Hungary, Iraq, Morocco, Poland, Rhodes, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and the former Yugoslavia ( Černý et al. 2020). Deeming (2006) reviewed the biology of this species and described the immature stages.
Hosts remark. It attacks barley ( Hordeum vulgare L.) ( Poaceae ) ( Al-Ali 1977; Benavent-Corai et al. (2005) and possibly rye ( Secale cereale L.) ( Poaceae ) ( Spencer 1973a; Lonsdale et al. 2023).
