Diplosynapsis halterata Enderlein, 1914 View in CoL
( Figs. 49–53 View FIGURES 49 – 53 )
Diplosynapsis halterata Enderlein, 1914: 260 View in CoL ; Hull, 1962: 479; Martin & Papavero 1970: 70 (catalogue); Artigas & Papavero, 1997: 70; Papavero, 2009: 17 (catalogue).
Comments. The only known specimen of D. halterata is from Colombia ( Caldas) ( Enderlein 1914; Papavero 2009). The type specimen was deposited in the Stettiner Zoologisches Museum. According to Papavero (2009), the same is deposited at IZPAN. However, according to T. Huflejt ( in litt.), there is only one type-specimen in that collection, determined by Enderlein as Diplosynapsis flavihalterata ( Figs. 49–53 View FIGURES 49 – 53 ). Although with different names, the label data correspond to the data presented in the original description of D. halterata . So, it is plausible that D. flavihalterata corresponds to the holotype of D. halterata .
According to Enderlein (1914), D. halterata has a yellow abdomen, black laterally, tergites and sternites 6 and 7 without a silvery shine and yellow halters. In the pictures available for study, it is noticeable that the tergites 2–4 are black and tergite 5 and basal 3/4 of tergite 6 are brown. Moreover, the apical 1/4 of tergite 6 and 7 have silver tomentum, although dull ( Figs. 49, 52 View FIGURES 49 – 53 ).
Distribution. Colombia ( Caldas) ( Fig. 76 View FIGURE 76 ).
