Type data: According to Pelletier (2002), the lectotype of E. persicus is preserved in the Stockholm Museum ( SMNH). It is a male labelled « Persia Plason» .

Material examined: Northern Iran: “Tabriz, Persia, 2.06.1914 ( D. I. Andrievskii)”, 1♂ ( ZIN); “Tabriz, garden in five versts southwards, 5.07.1916 ( D. I. Andrievskii)”, 2♂ ( ZIN) .

Description. Male. Body length 6.4–7.3 mm, width 2.2–2.7 mm. The body vestiture is golden-green in color. Dorsum of rostrum without median depression. The 3 rd or also 4 th funicular segments slightly elongate, the remaining 3 segments as long as wide. The 3 rd segment of fore tarsi about 2.8 times as wide as claw segment. Most of the setae on pronotum and basal part of elytra hair-like and pointed apically. Aedeagus with very thin and long anteapical setae, on ventral side with noticeable median carina.

Female. Unknown.

Comparative diagnosis: This species is closely related to E. dohrni , from which differs in the following features: most of setae on pronotum and elytra are pointed, penis on ventral surface with rather noticeable median carina, anteapical setae thin and moderately long.

Distribution: According to Pelletier (2002), E. persicus is the most widespread species known from the Transcaucasus, Turkey and the northwestern part of Iran (Marand, Shahpur, Garbi). In our opinion, E. persicus sensu Pelletier represents a complex of closely related species, including at least 2 species ( E. persicus and E. dohrni ).
