Epiphanops davidiani Pelletier, 2002: 136 View in CoL .

Type data: We have examined photos (habitus) of 2 paratypes ( ♂, ♀) of E. davidiani , which were received from Mr St. Benedikt ( Plzeň, Czech Republic). Specimens from the Helsinki museum are conspecific with the types .

Material examined: Iraq, Karbala, Nukayb , “ 160 km ”, 3.06.1980 ( R. Linnavuori), 2♂ ( NHMH) ; Al-Anbar, Anah-Qaim , 5.05.1980 ( R. Linnavuori), 1♂ ( NHMH) ; Ar-Rutbah, Qaim , 4.06.1980 ( R. Linnavuori), 1♂ ( NHMH) .

Description. Male. Body length 7.5–8.5 mm, width 3.0– 3.7 mm. Dorsum of rostrum with median depression. Elytra subparallel-sided in middle third. Tarsi very narrow, 3rd segment of fore tarsi 2.4–2.6 times as wide as claw segment. Scales broadly lanceolate, barely convex, with longitudinal costulae in microsculpture. Setae brownish, pointed toward apex. Aedeagus with long tufts of thin anteapical setae, directed toward apex. Setae on the body pointed and subrecumbent.

Female. Unknown.

Comparative diagnosis: In the structure of the body vestiture E. davidiani is similar to E. jucundus . It can be distinguished by the following features: body larger, scales flat, barely convex, with the microsculpture of longitudinal costulae, aedeagus with long tufts of anteapical setae. From E. persicus , E. dohrni and E. talamellii this species clearly differs in the brownish color of the scales.

Distribution: Iraq.
