Material examined: Transcaucasus: Araxesthal (Leder, Reitter), 3♂ ; Azerbaijan: Naxçıvan Republic, Julfa env., 27.05.1974 ( M. G. Volkovitsh), 1♀ ( ZIN); ibid, Darydag Mt. , 24.05.1974 ( M. G. Type data: Types are preserved in HNHM.According to the original description, the type material was collected by Antonie Kubischtek near Ordubad. The holotype of E. jucundus is a female ( Pelletier, 2002) .
Description. Male. Body length 6.2–6.5 mm, width 2.4–2.5 mm. Body pubescence light brown or beigecolored with inclusions of brownish scales forming 3 longitudinal stripes on disc of pronotum and mottled pattern on elytra. Dorsum of rostrum without median depression. Third to seventh funicular segments as long as wide. Third segment of fore tarsus 3.1 times as wide as claw segment.
Scales smooth, without microsculpture, concave in central part.Aedeagus with vague anteapical setae (according to Pelletier, the latter is absent). Ventral side of the penis with median carina.
Female. Body length 6.2–6.9 mm, width 2.7–3.0 mm.
Comparative diagnosis: The habitus is similar to that of E. davidiani , from which this species differs in the following features: body smaller, surface of scales smooth, without microsculpture, aedeagus with vague anteapical setae. From E. persicus , E. dohrni and E. talamellii this species clearly differs in the brownish color of the scales.
Biology: This species occurs predominantly in arid habitats.
Distribution: This species is known from Transcaucasus: Arax River valley ( Naxçıvan Republic of Azerbaijan) and Borjomi in Georgia (the last one according to Pelletier, 2002).
