Dixidae View in CoL is a relatively poor family in the species number, with 67 species known from the Palaearctic ( Wagner et al., 2008). Five species have been recorded from the Transcaucasia: three from northern slopes of the Central Caucasus ( Russia), based on larvae (doubtful species records): Dixella amphibia (De Geer, 1776) ( Khazeeva, 2010) View in CoL , Dixa submaculata Edwards, 1920 View in CoL and D. frizzi (Contini, 1965) ( Jakimov et al., 2015) ; Oboňa et al. (2017a) recorded Dixa submaculata View in CoL , D. puberula Loew, 1849 View in CoL , and Dixella obscura (Loew, 1849) View in CoL as adults from Armenia.
