Current status: Hiperantha ( Hiperantha) sanguinosa Mannerheim, 1837 ( Bellamy 2008) View in CoL .

Comments: This species was described from “Brasilia; ad Serra da Lapa in provincial Minas Geraïs a D. Ménétriés detecta.”. The lectotype housed at the MZHF is labelled as “Brasilia Min. Geraës” ( Ménétriés leg.).

This species was erroneously listed within the subgenus Hyperanthoides of the genus Hiperantha by Bellamy & Westcott (2000), but Bellamy (2008) placed it into the correct subgenus as Hiperantha ( Hiperantha) sanguinosa Mannerheim, 1837 .
