Type material. Holotype: ♂, with labels and data: white, black printed “ Lope de Vega, Northern Samar, Eastern Visayas FEBRUARY 2002 ” / backside “loc. coll. lgt.” / “ Coll.M.Balkenohl ” ( CMBB).
Remark. The left front leg is missing.
The subspecies differs from the nominotypical subspecies mainly in the following characters.
Description. Measurements. Body length 5.48 mm, width 1.48 mm, ratio L/W of pronotum 0.98, ratio L/W of elytra 2.03.
Head with labrum distinctly convex anteriorly, six-setose. Frons more intensively covered with small sized punctures.
Pronotum ( Fig. 45 View FIGURES 38–52 ) with lateral margin slightly to moderately convex; basal channel of flange somewhat widened.
Elytron ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 3–14 ) double as long as wide. Interval three with four setigerous punctures; interval seven with short step-like carina at apex.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 80 View FIGURES 73–84 ). Median lobe apically more abruptly attenuated to tip of apex as in nominotypical subspecies.
Female gonocoxites and epipleurite unknown.
Variation unknown.
Distribution. Philippines, Samar Island.
Diagnosis. The subspecies differs from the nominotypical subspecies mainly by the elytron with interval three with five setigerous punctures, interval seven with a short step-like carina at apex, the anteriorly convex margin of the labrum, the smaller size.
Etymology. The name refers to the island of Samar in the Philippines.
