( Figs 27 View FIGURES 27–37 , 62 View FIGURES 53–67 , 95 View FIGURES 85–96 )
Type material. Holotype: ♂, with labels and data: white, black framed, black printed and handwritten in black ink “ Philippinen Ost Luzon Kasiguran”, backside, handwritten in black ink “ J. Boetcher 9. 1915” / white, black printed and handwritten in black ink “ Clivina attenuata- helferi-group 2023 det.M. Balkenohl 2017 ” ( MFNB).
Remark. The following parts are missing in the holotype: Left terminal antennomere, left hind tibia with tarsomeres, right intermediate tarsomeres two to four.
Description. Measurements. Body length 6.91 mm, width 1.88 mm, ratio L/W of pronotum 0.92, ratio L/W of elytra 1.97. Colour glossy, fuscous. Supraantennal plate slightly brightened. Antennae, mouthparts, intermediate and hind legs yellowish.
Head a fifth narrower than pronotum. Clypeus gently excised anteriorly, with lateral teeth distinctly projecting; wing of moderate size, not more protruding anteriorly than clypeus, distinctly separated from clypeus by notch; supraantennal plate nearly angled laterally; clypeus distinctly reflexed margined, wing and supraantennal plate finely reflexed margined. Supraantennal plate extended up to mid-eye level, separated from wing by distinct notch, separated from supraorbital furrow by distinct groove. Clypeus transverse, moderately convex, separated from frons by wide flat furrow. Frons moderately convex, smooth, with central pore at middle. Supraantennal plate separated from clypeus and frons by moderately wide furrow continuing posteriorly up to mid-eye level as moderately wide supraorbital furrow. With blunt distinct supraorbital carina at posterior half of eye. With two supraorbital setigerous punctures situated at mid-eye level and posterior gena-level. Neck constriction closed, developed by punctures and distinct step. Eye convex, projecting laterally but not hemispherical. Gena distinct, enclosing eye posteriorly by nearly a quarter.Antenna somewhat elongated, reaching basal carina of pronotum, antennomeres four to ten elongate (L/W around 1.6). Labrum nearly straight, isodiametrically reticulated, seven-setose. Mandible of moderate size. Mentum with lateral lobe oval with acute angles, flattened, isodiametrically reticulated, distinctly convex laterally, straight medially, median tooth spatulate, hollowed out, as high as lateral lobes.
Pronotum ( Fig. 62 View FIGURES 53–67 ) with disk flattened in lateral view, in frontal view moderately convex. Distinctly quadrate, wider than long. Anterior margin slightly undulate. Reflexed lateral margin smooth, straight, widest at middle; anterior and posterior angles distinct, posterior one with sharp tooth. Lateral channel narrow to medium sized, reticulated, basal part of lateral margin from posterior angle to flange of base slightly sinuate, slanted with angle of around 30°, flange distinct, with deep basal channel and sharp basal carina. Median line moderately narrow, slightly crenulated, joining anterior transverse line and base; anterior transverse line narrow, complete. Surface nearly smooth, with indistinct flat impression basally at each side, base isodiametrically reticulated.
Elytron ( Fig. 27 View FIGURES 27–37 ) with disk flattened to indistinctly concave in anterior two thirds in lateral view, regularly and moderately convex in frontal view. Outline regularly long oval, nearly two times as long as wide, with maximum width behind middle. Humerus rounded, formed by lateral margin which joins middle of stria five laterally. Reflexed lateral margin indistinctly crenulated posterior humerus. Lateral channel moderately wide. Scutellar striole of moderate length, not deep; with distinct setigerous puncture at base of first stria, with distinct tubercle at base of third interval. Base straight. Striae moderately deep, punctate-striate, one to four free at base, five and six joining posterior humerus, seven shortened behind humerus, striae one and two running up to apex, three and four, and five and six joining apically. Intervals moderately convex, eights apically with long narrow carina, seventh with short step-like carina apically. Third interval with four setigerous punctures adjoining third stria. Surface of intervals smooth and glossy on disk, with distinct isodiametric reticulation at base, at apical tip, and on interval seven and eight.
Hind wing fully developed.
Lower surface. Proepisternum with distinct isodiametric reticulation, with dense transverse wrinkles laterally. Sternites of abdomen with isodiametric reticulation, slightly transverse at middle, with few fine punctures laterally. Abdominal sternum VII with the two anal setigerous punctures widely separated, at middle widely flattened and slightly projecting posteriorly, with narrow marginal furrow at middle.
Legs. Protibia with three spines of moderate length and a small one basally, with flat sulcus basally, movable spur nearly straight, surface with longitudinal reticulation. Mesotibia with distinct and moderately long protuberance preapically with acuminate apex and with its seta inserted laterally, with nine setae furnished tubercles above protuberance, with few fine setae at the inner side. Front leg with tarsomeres slightly widened, first tarsomere elongated, slender and with carina baso-laterally, laterally with two tubercles furnished with short setae.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 95 View FIGURES 85–96 ). Median lobe moderately robust, distinctly curved in basal three quarters, straight apically, apex with flattened wide acute-angled lamella. Parameres relatively wide, distorted apically, asetose.
Female gonocoxites and epipleurite unknown.
Variation. At one side, striae three and four are not joining at apex.
Distribution. Known from the East of the island of Luzon, Philippines.
Diagnosis. A larger sized fuscous species with square to subcordate pronotum, interval seven and eight of the elytron reticulated, and seven-setose labrum. Beside the unique apical lamella of the aedeagus, it differs mainly from the most and very similar species C. westwoodi Putzeys , C. wallacei Putzeys and C. paris sp. nov. by the seven-setose labrum, the parallel and nearly straight lateral margin of the pronotum, the elongated and narrow carina at the apex of the interval eight, and the distinctly reflexed margined clypeus.
Etymology. The name is a patronym in honour of Bernd Jäger (MFNB) who supported me over many years by loaning type and other material as well as answering questions to historic specimens.
