Cimex aterrimus Forster, 1771: 71 .

Type data. Syntypes of Cimex aterrimus Forster : Hispania [= Spain], ad fretum Gaditanum [= Golfo de Cádiz] (not located).

Distribution. A Palaearctic species introduced to the USA, West Indies and the Republic of South Africa ( Cape of Good Hope), where it has become established. It was described in RSA as Brachypelta elevata by Uhler (1861), but then it was synonymized with C. aterrimus by Lethierry & Severin (1893).
