Type material studied. Holotype (female) ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 2 ) with the following six labels ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 2 ): "Giava, Tcibodas Ott. 1874, O. Beccari" (white, printed in black, in black frame), " TYPUS " (white, printed in red, in red frame), " Elacatophora robusta Schauf. " (white, handwritten in black, in black frame), " HOLOTYPUS, Elacatophora robusta Schaufuss, 1884 " (red with black margins, partly printed, partly handwritten in black), "cfr.scheda N. 3576" (white, partly printed, partly handwritten in black), and "Museo Civico di Genova" (white, printed in black) ( MCG).

Remarks. The holotype female of E. robusta is nearly identical to females of E. maxima (Jałoszyński) ( ex Borneosabahia ), also known to occur on Java. Elacatophora robusta matches the body size and proportions of E. maxima , except antennomeres. In E. robusta antennomere 10 is nearly as long as broad, with the length/ width ratio (L/W) 0.95, while in E. maxima it is distinctly broader than long, L/ W 0.69. Antennomere 11 is more elongate in E. robusta (L/ W 1.2) than in E. maxima (L/ W 1.06). The type locality given by Schaufuss (1884) as "Tcibodas" is Cibodas, Cianjur Regency, Jawa Barat District, Indonesia.

Distribution. Indonesia: West Java.
