Materials examined. Constanța County: Lazu , 44.1102°N / 28.6038°E, 23.I.2024, in stored cracked wheat, Alexandru-Mihai Pintilioaie leg. (4 specimens), AMPC GoogleMaps .
Remarks. Described from South America ( Šefrová & Laštůvka 2005) but probably native to the Middle East (cf. Denux & Zagatti 2010), the species is now cosmopolitan, being known from at least 104 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, North America and Oceania ( Gourgouta et al. 2023). It was recorded in Romania before 1912 ( Petri 1912). Oryzaephilus surinamensis is a secondary pest affecting different types of grains but can infest a wide variety of plant-based products ( Gourgouta et al. 2023).
