Remarks. Species of Nearctic origin ( Kovalenko et al. 2016), with natural hosts such as Yucca sp. ( Asparagaceae ) and other semisucculent plants. Hatch (1940) observed C. angustus in a flour mill in Seattle in 1939. Cynaeus angustus is considered a potential storage insect pest globally ( Furui et al. 2020), and it has already been reported to cause damage to various stored grains, particularly corn ( Dunkel et al. 1982). The species was recently found in Romania ( Pintilioaie & Teodorescu 2021), and the current new records suggest that it already has some stable populations spread across the country.
