Remarks. Originating from North America , the species is now present in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Russian Caucasus, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, and Turkey ( Jelínek & Audisio 2007; Guéorguiev 2018; Vávra et al. 2012; Köhler 2009; Merkl et al. 2009; Tsinkevich & Solodovnikov 2014; Jelínek 2014; Spasić et al. 2011). It was also introduced in the Oriental Region and the Near East ( Köhler 2009). The adults feed mostly on overripe fruits, although it has been observed as a concurrent source of damage to cultivated strawberries ( Pansa et al. 2014; Ruzzier et al. 2023b). It was recorded only recently in Romania (2018) on overripe pears ( Stan 2019).
