Materials examined. Constanța County: Dumbrăveni (near), 43.9355°N / 27.9952°E, 16.IX.2022, pasture—at light, Cosmin-Ovidiu Manci leg. (8 specimens), COMC GoogleMaps ; Constanța County: “Dunele Marine de la Agigea” Nature Reserve , 44.0876°N / 28.6422°E, 22.I.2024, found dead inside the building, Alexandru-Mihai Pintilioaie leg. (1 specimen), AMPC GoogleMaps ; Neamț County: Poiana Teiului , 47.1145°N / 25.9253°E, 24.II.2024, under moldy hay, Alexandru-Mihai Pintilioaie leg. (1 specimen), AMPC GoogleMaps .
Remarks. Originally from North America ( Wittenberg et al. 2006) , the species is now distributed worldwide. Typhaea stercorea feeds on various types of molds and is considered a pest of stored products ( Majka 2010). The species was first recorded in Romania before 1912 ( Petri 1912).
