Definition. Choanosomal skeleton with secondary lines one or more spicules long. The skeleton might also be more isotropic. However, it always has a few discernible primary and secondary lines. No ectosomal skeleton. Spongin is scarce to abundant ( Bispo et al. 2022, 205).
Type species: Chalinula renieroides Schmidt, 1868 (by subsequent designation; de Laubenfels 1936a, 47). Type locality: Mediterranean, Azores, Caribbean (shallow waters) ( de Weerdt 2002).
