Remarks. This species was described based on males and females from Brazil ( Pará, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Santa Catarina). According to Monné (2024), currently, it is also known from the Brazilian states of Rondônia and Goiás ( Pará was omitted). We suspect that this species is just a chromatic variation of Cosmisoma angustipenne Zajciw, 1958 , a species known from Peru, French Guiana, Bolivia, and Brazil ( Acre and Amazonas). However, as we have not examined specimens that match the colors of the holotype of C. angustipenne , we cannot know whether there are morphological differences. Zajciw (1962) did not compare Cosmisoma batesi Zajciw, 1962 with C. angustipenne , and only separated them in the key: body entirely fulvous-ferruginous, leading to C. batesi ; body black, leading to C. angustipenne .
