Remarks. This species was described and remains known only from Venezuela ( Monné2024; Tavakilian&Chevillotte 2024). According to Martins (2003) (translated): “Antennomeres III and IV (male) brownish; antennomeres V–X darkened apically; distance between the upper eye lobes shorter than the maximum diameter of the scape; elytra with transverse, wide dark band located just after middle; setae on elytra restricted to long ones arranged in rows and without shorter setae,” leading to Sydax amazonicus Martins, 1971 ; and “Antennomeres III and IV darkened apically and V on apical 2/3; antennomeres VI–X yellowish; distance between the upper eye lobes shorter than the maximum diameter of the scape; elytra with transverse, narrow dark band located on the apical seventh; elytra with two types of setae, long, distributed in irregular rows, and short throughout,” leading to Sydax confragus Martins, 1971 . The color of the antennomeres III–IV is slightly different from that in the holotype. However, we consider this just a specific variation. As it is possible to see, the distance between the upper eye lobes in S. confragus was mistakenly reported in the key: it should be “distance between the upper eye lobes larger than the maximum diameter of the scape.”
