Etymology. The specific epithet works as a noun in apposition referring to the small size of the specimens of this species. In Quechua Aymara (very commonly spoken in Santiago del Estero), ch’ilikuti means “little, small”.

Diagnosis. Members of Actinopus chilikuti sp. nov. are small spiders. Males can be distinguished from all other species with Type I morphology in Argentina by having a copulatory bulb with a more curved embolus ( Figs 2C–F View FIGURE 2 , 4C View FIGURE 4 ), with keels well developed (similar to A. reycali ) and PA developed (smaller in A. reycali , and A. clavero but bigger in A. septemtrionalis , Fig 4 View FIGURE 4 ). Females can be differentiated from A. reycali and A. septemtrionalis by the shorter and more slender spermathecae ( Fig 3D View FIGURE 3 , similar to A. clavero ). It is distinguished from A. clavero by a larger number of retrolateral thorns on tibia II (30 vs 20, Fig 3G View FIGURE 3 ) and fewer on tibia I (0 vs 5).
