Type locality: — Japan
Description and remarks: —Specimens are bushy, reaching up to 25 cm tall and have robust discoid holdfasts up to 1 cm in diameter. The main axis is cylindrical with a diameter of 1.5–2 mm. Leaves grow directly from the main axis, pinnatisect, having deeply incised margins with distinct midribs. The vesicles are spherical to ovoid in shape with caudate tips or terminated by a leaflet. Vesicles are found growing densely on the base of leaves close to the terminal portions of the plant. This species was found along the windward side of Yokoura from early-mid summer, together with S. muticum and S. ilicifolium .
