Remarks. We own a single head valve from the lower Pliocene (Zanclean) of Garlenda ( Italy), a small fragile fragment, characterized by fine and small irregular granules, that randomly cover all the valve’s surface ( Fig. 154B View FIGURE 154 ). The granules are quadrangular-irregular shaped, relatively elevated, with 6–8 aesthetes on the top, one on the centre and the others on the periphery, of the same dimensions. The scantness of the material available makes it impossible to ascertain the taxonomic status of this valve beyond a genus assignment.
