Leaves lyrate-pinnatifid or lyrate-pinnate. Siliqua 2 0-4 0x 3-4 mm; valves usually hispid; beak 10-30 mm. Seeds yellow or pale brown. 2n = 24. Usually a weed o f cultivated land. Throughout the range o f the species.

Widely cultivated as a forage crop and for the condiment obtained from the seeds.
