(c) Subsp. stiriacum Wettst. ex Hayek View in CoL in Hegi, loc. cit. (1922):

Rosettes 2-4-5 cm in diameter; leaves oblanceolate, distinctly acuminate, reddish at the apex; cilia distinctly longer than hairs on leaf-surface. Petals 16-20 mm. 2/7 = 84. E. Austria.

Plants from the Carpathians, somewhat intermediate in appearance between subspp. (b) and (c) and with 2/z = 42, have been named subsp. carpaticum Wettst. ex Hayek , loc. cit. (1922). Their status is uncertain.
