Perennial; nonflowering shoots procumbent, with terminal leaf-rosettes; flowering stems 15-25 cm, ascending. Leaves 12-25 mm, alternate, elliptical-ovate, obtuse, entire, glaucous. Inflorescence and flowers as in 5, but flowers sometimes 4-merous; petals glaucous- lilac outside and dull, deep red inside; styles straight. 2n=36. Calcifuge. • Pyrenees, S.fV. Alps, Appennini.
