Annual or biennial 5- 90 cm. Lower leaves pinnatisect, more or less ovate in outline, with a large terminal lobe. Pedicels 1-2 mm. Petals 2-4 mm; anthers c. 0-7 mm; ovary with 10-20 ovules. Siliqua (8-) 10- 20 mm, conical-cylindrical, straight, attenuate into style; style 0-5-1 mm. Seeds c. 1 mm. 2n=14. Throughout Europe, northwards to c. 68° N. All except Fa Sb; introduced in Is.
