Perennial 30-70 cm; stem robust, glabrous; rhizome long, horizontal. Leaves large, thick, clear green, lyrate-pinnate, long-petiolate; the lower cauline with 1-5 pairs of ovate to orbicular-reniform, sinuate, lateral leaflets, decreasing in size from the very large, reniform, terminal leaflet 3-7 cm wide. Petals 8-12 mm, reddish-violet, rarely white; anthers yellow. Siliqua 15-30(-40) x 1-4-2 mm; style 2-5 mm, gradually attenuate. Mountains o f S. Europe. Al Bu G a G r Hs It Ju.
