Densely caespitose perennial. Latex yellow. Leaf-bases persistent, forming a compact tunic. Leaves 4-12 cm, whitish-hispid, pinnatifid with 3-4 pairs of lanceolate or linear-lanceolate, acute, usually entire segments. Pedicel (10—) 15-2O(-3O) cm, stiffly erect, appressed-hispid above, subglabrous below. Petals 13-23 mm, yellow, usually caducous. Stamens about as long as ovary; filaments filiform, anthers yellow. Capsule 10-1 7x4-7 mm, subpyriform-ellipsoid or davate, widest in upper half, sparsely appressed-setose. Stigmatic disc pyramidal, as wide as capsule; rays 5-8, decurrent. 2n = 56. Arctic Norway and Russia. N o Rs (N).
