9. D. pentagynum Lam. View in CoL , Encyc. Méth. Bot. 2: 264 (1786).

Tubers present. Stock surrounded by fibres. Stems 30-70 cm, slender, slightly angled, with patent or somewhat deflexed hairs below and subappressed hairs above, more rarely glabrous above. Base of petiole of cauline leaves surrounding not more than half the circumference of stem. Upper leaves palmatisect, with more or less linear segments; lower palmati partite, with wider segments. Flowers pale or dirty violet-blue; lateral perianth-segments 13- 16 mm, about equalling the subacute spur. Follicles 5, more or less divergent. Seeds 1-2-1-5 mm, obscurely angled, covered with long scales. S. Spain, C. & S. Portugal. Hs Lu.

D. gautieri Rouy , III. Pl. Eur. Rar. 5: 34 (1896) is evidently closely related to 9. It is described as being taller, with wider, subobtuse leaf-segments, and flowers almost twice as large, with a very obtuse spur 1 | times as long as the perianth-segments. It was described from the Spanish Pyrenees, and does not appear to have been collected more than once.
