Like 1 but with a long slender stock; leaf-lobes crenatedentate; flowers 25-40 mm in diameter, usually with 8-9 elliptical perianth-segments; and bracts with 2-3 small teeth near the top. 2« = 28. Mountain woods. ® C. Romania. Rm. H. x media Simonkai ( H. nobilis x transsilvanica ) occurs locally with the parents and has sterile pollen.
