Stems up to several metres. Leaves not glaucous, not broadening above the middle, tapering gradually to the acute apex; dorsal angle serrulate. Flowers c. 9 cm in diameter, yellow or purple; stamens yellow. 2« = 18. Naturalized on the coasts of S. and S. W. Europe, northwards to Ireland. [Az Be Br Ga Hb Hs It Lu; probably elsewhere.] (S. Africa.)
