Stems 25-75 cm, persistent, branched, woody below; upper segments up to 20 x 1 mm. Leaves c. 1 mm, each pair forming a short truncate cupule. Three perianth-segments winged; wings up to 4 mm, orbicular-ovate; staminodes ciliolate. Saline soils. S.E. Russia, W. Kazakhstan. Rs (E).
