Pubescent perennial, woody below. Leaves broadly ovate or broadly rhombic, shortly acuminate, green on both surfaces. Flowers pedicellate, somewhat shining, green. Bracteoles glabrous, awned. Perianth about twice as long as bracteoles. Teeth alternating with the stamens fimbriate at apex. More or less naturalized in S. Europe. (Tropics.)
