(c) Subsp. cupaniana View in CoL (Jordan & Fourr.) Nyman, Consp. I l l (1878):

Stems up to 90 cm, pubescent all round usually throughout, usually glandular. Leaves puberulent or pubescent, often glandular. Inflorescence densely glandular-pubescent, lax. Sepals usually 6-7 mm; petals equalling or slightly longer than sepals; stamens usually 10. Seeds usually l-3-l-5m m, with conical tubercles. W. & C. Mediterranean region. Plants intermediate between subspp. (b) and (c) occur in the E. Mediterranean region. 3 (b) and (c) appear to be distinguishable from 4 by the pubescence of the stems and inflorescences, and intermediates between the species do not seem to occur; but their relationship requires further study.
