Like 16 but stems usually procumbent, m atted; leaves 2-8 x 1-4 mm, usually crowded; plant often reproducing by vegetative buds in axils of leaves; flowers 8-16 mm in diameter; sepals 3-5-6 mm, ovate-lanceolate, subacute; ripe capsule usually equalling sepals; seeds almost smooth. 2/t = 26. Coasts o f arctic and subarctic Europe, southwards to c. 64° N. in N.W. Russia; one station at head o f Gulf o f Bothnia. Fe Is No Rs (N) Sb.
