Caespitose perennial with short, woody, leafy branches at the base, and flowering stems 10-60 cm; smelling of camphor. Leaves 2-10 mm, linear, stiff, often fasciculate. Perianth 2-3- 5 mm, glabrous or pubescent at the apex of the segments. Saline soils and dry waste places. S. Europe extending northwards to c. 53° N. in E.C. Russia.
