Annual up to 50 cm. Leaves 12-20 x 1 -1-5 mm, semicylindrical, more or less acute. Cymes dense, occurring in the axils of most leaves. Fruiting perianth with 1 or 2 horns on the back, the upper horn almost stellate, the lower much smaller and dentate, or absent. Seeds reticulate-punctate, usually horizontal. S.E. Russia, W. Kazakhstan. Rs (E). (W. & C. Asia.)
