Stem up to 80 cm, procumbent to erect, root usually not swollen; leaves up to 10 cm; cymes 1- to 3-flowered. 2« =18. Coasts o f S. & W. Europe northwards to c. 59° N. in W. Sweden. Polymorphic and probably divisible into a number of subspecies.
