Previous year’s twigs almost or quite glabrous. Buds with outwardly curved apex. Leaves usually broadly ovate to ovate-oblong, rounded at the base, sinuate-dentate or almost serrate, dark green and finally almost glabrous above, persistently softly and densely grey-tomentose beneath; margin somewhat undulate, crenate to entire; lateral veins 6-9 pairs, forming almost a right angle with the midrib, very prominent on the lower surface; petiole long.
