Leaves alternate throughout (exceptionally one or two pairs at the base of the terminal shoots opposite) narrowly lanceolate-lingulate, cuneate at the base, serrate only above the middle, c. 10 times as long as wide on long twigs, c. 5 times as long as wide on short twigs; petiole c. i as long as the leaf. Widespread, particularly in mountain regions.
