Evergreen shrub orsmall tree up to 8 m. Twigs with small ferrugineous peltate hairs. Leaves 4-11 cm, oblanceolate, cuneate at base, entire, with revolute margins, glabrous, without conspicuous glands. Catkins more or less branched, borne among the leaves on the current year’s growth. Fruit a drupe, but only slightly fleshy. Açores; naturalized or perhaps native in C. & S. Portugal. Az * Lu. (Madeira, Canarias.)
