Annual herbs without stinging hairs. Leaves opposite, entire, fleshy; stipules apparently absent. Inflorescence axillary, globose. Flowers uni- or bi-sexual; female flowers with 3-lobed perianth, one lobe larger, cuculiate, enclosing the achene.
