Semi-evergreen shrub up to 5 m. Leaves 4-6 cm, very rigid, often glabrescent, dull, with conspicuous veins above and spinous teeth (except in leaves at the base of each twig, which are almost entire). Involucre up to 20 mm wide, with lanceolate, closely appressed scales. N. Aegean region. Gr Tu. (Anatolia.)
