Like 9, but rhizome with filiform scales at apex; leaves 10-20 cm; petiole reddish-brown, becoming green at base of rhachis; lamina lanceolate, acuminate, thicker, 2-pinnate, not decreasing to any marked extent towards base of leaf; pinnae with 1-3 pairs of toothed, rounded pinnules, terminal segment about half as long as pinna, not deeply cut. 2zz= 144. Siliceous rocks. • W.C. Europe, from N. France to Sardegna.?Be Co Ga He?Hs It Sa.

A. bornmuelleri Kümmerle, Bot. Közl. 19: 81 (1921) and A. macedonicum Kümmerte, Bot. Közl. 15: 145 (1916) are closely related taxa from the Balkan peninsula which need further investigation.
